Leaving Germany today on a 6 hour drive into Austria, destination Vienna. Hasi, our agent, is driving, Bob Dylan is our travelling soundtrack as the autumn colours pass by and we adjust our bodies into comfortable positions. This morning’s breakfast talk was dreams, our aches and pains from long journeys and whether baked beans were really beans or a soya construct these days. We resist looking at Google, how else do we keep ageing brains alive but by musing on pointless chains of thought. Meanwhile Bob drones on in a strangely comforting way. Just crossed the Danube, wow, did we really sail there ?
Time to reflect on our first tour of Germany as a trio. First stop was the St Nikolai Church in Emshorn, near Hamburg.
We went from the baroque grandeur of St Nikolai Church in Elmshorn, to the crazy Americana and rock world of the Blues Garage, Hanover, It couldn’t be a greater contrast. It felt good to be back in this strange, unpredictable life of touring, especially in Germany and what a great start, sixty CDs sold and some great singing. Thank you so much for being there for the trio. Let everyone know we are back. The song goes on.
Then Zeche Carl, Essen lived up to all our expectations. It was one of the first venues in Germany I ever played with the band and itt’s great to be back. Amazing reaction right from the start and great singing. Big thanks from the 3 of us for joining us on this new musical journey. JJx
The weekend gave us two of our favourite gigs: Worpswede and Bensheim. It has been such a great reaction to the Trio Tour. I am grateful and moved by the loyalty and support over the years and especially now for Ray, Al and I . On to Nürnberg now for our last gig in Germany before we go to Austria . Your singing has been wonderful….JJ
